The Bowen Technique

Overview

Bowen Therapy is a gentle, holistic hands-on alternative therapy that helps elevate pain and discomfort by re-aligning and re-creating relaxation and equilibrium in the body. Bowen is applied to specific areas of the body using rolling–type moves and a light touch with no deep or prolonged pressure.

How does Bowen work?

Frequently, habitual movements and past injuries can block or delay the communication between your brain and your body. As a result, your body is constantly compensating to function which can lead to pain and reduction/loss of movement. Bowen allows this essential communication to resume as it should by resolving the root cause of the problem and help you to become pain free.

In Bowen we work over connective tissues called fascia.  Fascia is connected to every part of your body. As a result, ankle pain could cause jaw pain or headache and a sore shoulder could be caused by opposite hip/knee and vice versa.

Tension lays down in layers. The longer you have your pain/tension the more layers and problems you have. Bowen effectively unravels those layers and a series of therapy sessions are able to eliminate the issue.
